South Sudan Approach-history curriculum

Depending on what I know, the background and current situations even after the expected peace, I think South Sudan will need to take a balance and neutral approach that ignore divisions and includes the past, struggle and freedom, identity and progress. It’s due to the fact that, when it’s neutral and balanced it will be the mirror where all South Sudanese will see themselves, all cultures  reflected, common goals, aspirations  and values that are acceptable and recognized by all. Therefore that will bring about further unity and call themselves “We are South Sudanese”.

  1. yes, just the word "neutral" is really powerful. if the Neutral approach could be used in developing history curriculum, this would lead to peace in South Sudan as well, teachers should use neutral language in teaching history to favor all the learners and their culture for a common goal as South Sudanese, because "together we stand but divided we will fall."

  2. l really agree with Nyerere in the idea of neutral approach which will build unity among the south Sudanese especially young generation and school at larger . whereby all people will be equal, no one will feel superior over the other.

  3. Very well said! I like the idea of a neutral approach, bu what would a neutral approach look like? How would you suggest curriculum developers go about not favoring one side over the other? These are tricky questions that many people spend lifetimes discussing!
